Anne’s project has involved developing new models of creative engagement and English language learning through drama, working with refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in East London. Through teaching English through improvisation, the project aims to provide a structured programme that links to other services which together can help people find their feet and rebuild their lives. The programme is one of several projects that will benefit from £6 million of investment from the Department of Communities and Local Government in language support programmes nationally.
Anne’s project will be supported by a panel of mentors that will include Drama’s Ali Campbell, Bridget Escolme, and Caoimhe McAvinchey. Caoimhe, responding to the funding announcement, said “This is wonderful news and a recognition of Anne’s vision, rigour, and care”.
