Leverhulme Success for our Academics

The School is delighted to announce that Dr Nadia Davids, Lecturer in Drama, and Dr David James, Reader in Modern and Contemporary Literature, have both been awarded highly-competitive Philip Leverhulme Prizes.

1 November 2013

These prizes, worth £70,000, are awarded by the Leverhulme Trust to outstanding scholars who have made a substantial contribution to their field of study, recognised at an international level, and where the expectation is that their greatest achievement is yet to come.

Professor Gordon Marshall Director of The Leverhulme Trust said: "The standard of the nominated candidates was encouragingly high, and the eventual recipients of Prizes were judged by the panel to be truly outstanding in their fields, with records of proven achievement, as well as telling promise for the future."

The School sends its congratulations to Nadia and David, and look forward to seeing the fruits of their on-going research.

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 the Trust has provided grants and scholarships research and education. Today, it is one of the largest all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing over £60m a year. For more information about the Trust, please visit www.leverhulme.ac.uk.
