Why Study with Us?

These are just some of the reasons why you'd want to study Drama at Queen Mary:

Teaching

Our teaching is also innovative: we run dynamic and novel undergraduate and postgraduate modules which reflect our staff's research interests and practices. These modules deploy a range of teaching methods from workshops to seminars, and they often make full use of London's many cultural and dramatic resources.

"The programme is taught by a first rate team with a clear commitment to teaching excellence as evidenced by exciting curriculum design, challenging module content, the overall quality of module materials and the care taken in assessment and feedback."
 -- External Examiner Report

Employability

We provide students with all the research, communication, and analytical skills necessary for a wide range of careers or for further study. This ensures our graduates are highly employable.

Our graduates enjoy professional success in many different careers: The national 2014 destination survey confirmed that 92 per cent of graduates from the School of English and Drama were in employment or study six months after graduation, with 71 per cent of this group already working or studying at graduate level.

Research

You will study alongside academics who are world leaders in their field. Due to the outstanding quality of our academic's research, we were ranked first out of all UK Drama departments in the last National Research Excellence Framework.

"There are lots of opportunities in Drama to share your research and to engage with others' work, both from within the Department and elsewhere, and to get involved in the organisation of research events. The large number of postgraduate students, and academic and public events, makes for a diverse and supportive research community."
  -- Harriet Curtis (PhD student)

Russell Group

It is in recognition of our excellence in both research and teaching that Queen Mary is a member of the Russell Group of leading universities in the UK.

Location

Queen Mary offers the perfect location to study drama. As a student at a London university, you will have access to the city's many theatres, galleries, museums, and other cultural resources. And as a student of a campus university, you will benefit from a close-knit campus community located on the picturesque Regent's Canal.

"Life on campus has included some of the best nights of my life; because the accommodation is put together like a student village, it really does build a community and meeting new friends is almost unavoidable."
-- Ryan Dickenson (BA Drama Alumni)
